Do you know of any residential roofing contractors near me? I used to, but not any more. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but it just seemed as if they did not have the same standards as other roofers in my area. Now that I am retired, and no longer contracting for a living, I do not feel the need to advertise in local directories like Yellow Pages or even online classified ads like Craigslist. Not because I do not want to advertise my business, but because I don't feel that the benefits of advertising in local directories will be worth the cost to me.

For starters, I do not have to worry about being picked up by one of those fly by night type businesses, and driven around town on some "pitch" that they devised. I have had some great experiences with these types of ventures, and they always leave me feeling like I have been taken advantage of. What is more, they never leave you with any roofing materials, or even a quote for the job. They simply take your money and run. This is not the service I want from local roofers near me.

Now, I am all for saving money wherever you can, and I am all for giving people a choice of selecting local roofers near me when they need some roofing repairs. But, let's face it, there are only so many roofing contractors in the world. So, how can you be certain that you are getting the best value for your money?

I suggest that you use someone that is licensed and bonded. If you are hiring local contractors, then this is especially important. Most states require bonding for residential roofing contractors. If you are hiring a non-residential contractor, then again this becomes an issue of concern.

Most roofing contractors near me have their own place of business, and they will not do residential work. This does not mean that you cannot get some really good residential roofing quotes from them. Ask for a quote based on square footage. Ask about the warranty, and whether they are insured for residential roof installation.

Some states will require a certain amount of insurance coverage as well. This is usually part of the contract for the residential roof installation. Make sure that you get everything that you want out of your local roofers near me. Otherwise you may end up with a lower quality product, and you will have to pay more money for it in the end.
