Types of House Plans

A house type refers to the way the house is set up. This is a short list of common house types. Most houses are constructed in a wide range of different configurations. A short division is usually between single-family or attached homes and various other forms of multiple or attached residential dwelling.

The best known among the several house types is the single-story ranch house, also called a simple house. Some of the types of single-story ranch houses include the gabled (or pyramid) house, gable ranch house, townhouse, and walled garden house. The two-story (or three-story) ranch house is one of the oldest and most common types of house in North America. It includes hipped (or pitched) roofs, stucco finishes, and is usually located on a lot that has been zoned as a ranch.

Other types of single-family houses include bungalows, roosters, lofts, townhomes, condos, and row homes. These houses are generally built with more wood than other types of houses and with different floor plans. bungalows and townhouses have single levels and some are two stories; bungalows have a bungalow at the bottom level and a lower level with an attached garage or porch; condos have different rooms with corresponding floors; and townhomes and lofts have different elevations from their single-story counterparts. The most modern house types are self-contained units. These house types include precast concrete buildings, which are usually made for single families or for groups of people who like to live in close proximity but without sharing kitchen facilities or other amenities. Some of these types of house are made with steel frames that provide ample protection against natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes. Others are made with wood, and some feature glass windows and doors.

The most expensive type of house are prefabricated houses. These houses are set up as a single unit by builders who buy land with enough room for building. Usually, prefabricated houses can be delivered to the site in only a few days, sometimes hours, depending on the size of the project and the materials used.

The typical size of such buildings is about twenty-two feet by thirty-six feet. Two-room houses are cheaper than one-room ones. A two-room house is normally a single level with at least two rooms. Some examples of two-room house types are the French country type and the colonial house. In case you have limited space in your yard, then you should go for the one room type. Also, if you prefer to live in an isolated place, then you should go for a two-room house.
